End of the Year Show! June 29th, 2008. Still to be named, and details worked out, but the show has a new home at the California Theater in Downtown San Jose. This show will continue to have great production value in this historic theater. We look forward to the show. Please stay tuned for more information coming out in the first part of the new year (2008).
Summer Camps. We have partnered with the East Valley YMCA to provide the best possible camps. We will offer the YMCA clients dance camps and they will offer our camp members team building and fun events throughout the week. This should be a great partnership that will give both the YMCA and NCDA really great summer camps. Find new summer information soon on the Summer Programs page.
Company Calenders. Our calenders are out for 2008, and looking good! Many of the company shots are now up throughout the web pages. The 2008 calenders raise funds for the company trip to LA this summer. If you have not ordered your NCDA 2008 calender, you can purchase them at the studio desk.

Jump San Jose. Every year we get better and better. This time the PACK had nothing less then Gold and for Jump that pretty good. We are so proud of all the dancers and pieces submitted to Jump this year. We had many first time solos and small groups performing, and they all did awesome. Oh and we cant forget that "Ying-Yang" (this years contemp/acro peice) received the "Best of Jump" award!!!

Jump San Jose. Every year we get better and better. This time the PACK had nothing less then Gold and for Jump that pretty good. We are so proud of all the dancers and pieces submitted to Jump this year. We had many first time solos and small groups performing, and they all did awesome. Oh and we cant forget that "Ying-Yang" (this years contemp/acro peice) received the "Best of Jump" award!!!

Pulse SF. Wow. What a great convention. I know that all our older members that attended the convention are still sore and blown away by the choreographers and other dancers. Our dancers both took class and got to perform one of their pieces, "crushed." On a personal note, as owners, we rarely get to take class (tawnya), see our staff take class, and our students take class, all at the right level and really come together at the end of the day. This was really a great weekend for all. If you did not attend this year, really recommended for next!
Vision Series SF. The Vision series was one of the first big outside performance the PACK got to take part in this year and it was great! PACK members got to meet different dance companies from all over the Bay Area and get some great training from Line Ballet. They also had a showcase at the Cowell theater in SF where they performed Yin Yang. We hope to continue this event yearly.
Banana Splits Party Testing! January 12th - 17th. Having your splits is a great and important dance skill. We honor our split winners with a picture in the lobby and a banana split party at the end of the month. We had so much fun at the party, playing games and watching a movie. Thank you for all that worked on your splits and got to attend this great event!
Recital Location Announced! This years recital will be held on June 27th at Evergreen Valley High School, on Quimby Rd. in San Jose.

San Jose Holiday Parade. We hope you all had a great holiday break and a very happy new year! Our performance company and teams danced down the streets of downtown at the San Jose Holiday Parade, and were amazing to watch live or on TV. We started receiving calls and emails that next day, and Tawnya was asked to choreograph the opening ceremony for this years Anime Convention. We hope you all got to see our performers in action, but if not, please come to support them at their next performance. For more info about becoming a member of our performance teams please ask the front desk.
Parent Week and Holiday Parties. We really had a great time during our Parent Week and Holiday parties! It was great to see the parents and our staff be able to make a connection. Its our hope you were able to experience a small part of what your dancer does here at NCDA. Please make sure that your dancer knows that they did a great job in class! Also, now that you know our staff, please feel free to ask them or us any questions you may have about the classes and our Recital.

Bring-A-Friend Week. We had a great time again this year at our bring a friend week. All students who's friends signed up for classes received $15 towards their accounts as a thank you from us. We hope to do another bring a friend week in winter 09.

New Registration Plan. We have decided to start a new registration plan. Dont worry, if you pre-register you still will not have any registration fee! So it goes... Pre-Registration (June & July) No Fee. Discount Registration (Aug. & Sept) $15 fee. Regular Registration (Oct+) $25 Fee.
Fall Classes. September is turning into quite a busy month here at the studio. All the regular dance season classes started Sept. 8th. We loved seeing all the return students and all the new faces. Most classes still have space so if you have not signed up make sure you do soon before they are full!
Summer Video's Premiered at Open House. During our summer performance workshop, students had a chance to create a video that showed off some serious talent! We premiered these videos at the NCDA open house and they got a huge response. These videos and other NCDA videos are available on our Media Page via YouTube!
Summer Programs and Classes. It really took us a long time thinking about how to work this years summer activities. We have teamed up with the YMCA for all those interested in a really really fun day camp. We also are offering a 8 class youth series throughout August and a Master Class series for the Teens and Adults. And don't worry mom and dad, these are all very affordable. All the details are on the Summer Page. Get the registration form.
Performance Company Workshop Announced! For those looking to join or remain on one of the award winning performance companies or teams, this workshop is for you! Look at the details on the summer page. Make sure you are there, judging will happen through a video class at the end of the week. The workshop is open to all. If you can not attend the workshop, private auditions can be scheduled, if time allows.
NCDA's PACK Dance Company and POSSE Nationals 08! This summer The Performance Company, teachers, and familys tarveled to Hollywood to compete Nationally against some of the best Dancers across North America at the JUMP Hollywood Finale! During the week the dancers took classes from top industry professionals such as Mandy Moore (SYTYCD, Edge performing Arts Center), Dee Caspary, Nick Lazzarini(SYTYCD Season 1 Winner), Misha Gabriel (Janet Jackson tour), and Kim McSwain. The dancer's scored top awards including 4 High Golds and 13 Golds. Symphonic the teen tap dance also received special recognition as 3rd overall for the competition!
During the week the dancer's rehearsed in Hollywood at the same place and time as MTV's America's Best Dance Crew Dancers. The Crew's loved our dancers and supported them by watching their routines and cheerng them on! It was a magical rehearsal for everyone!
The week ended with a huge Closing show held at the famous Gibson Ampitheater (where the 2008 MTV Music Awards were held) in Universal Studios! It was an amazing production and experience for the dancers!
The Future Is Ours... Recital 08! Our 2008 Season Recital was a huge Success! The show was held in downtown San Jose at the beautiful California Theater. NCDA's youth program put on a fabulous production of everything they had learned throughout the Season. The show also included special guests, NCDA's PACK Dance Company and Apprentice POSSE!

Hall of Fame Competition. The PACK, POSSE, and Mini Mob preformed awesome at Hall of Fame. The Mini Mob's first performance had the crowd cheering for more and taking High Gold. The Juniors were up against some fierce competition and proved that they could hold their own, scoring Golds and High Golds. The Posse, well I believe they had their best performance to date, and scored Gold. The Seniors...just kicked butt! Winning, one overall, and 4 out of 6 Platinum awards (the highest you can get!!). An amazing job! Keep working hard for Nationals!
The Spring Concert! April 5th. The stage is set for another great spring concert. All the dances from this award winning year will be performing at this free fundraiser. The show will once again be held at the East Valley Family YMCA and is open to all studio families, friends, and dance lovers, for free! We really hope to see you there. Show starts at 6pm in the main gym.
The Road to Nationals... First Stop Jump Santa Clara! On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday February 15-17. Our PACK company , Apprentice Posse competed against many other performance companies from around California and the western United States. And they rocked! NCDA received, 7 High Silvers, 8 Golds, and 3 High Golds! They also won, 2nd place for teen line (fever dream), 3rd place for junior solo (Hold Your Hand), and 3rd place for senior trio (Rock The Boat). Cold Hearted won 1st place overall for Junior Jazz! Fever Dream won, 1st place overall for Teen/Senior Specialty, Best in Studio, and one of only 3 Best of JUMP!
One of our Junior PACK dancers, Jessica Sandoval, won a jazz scholarship! We are very proud or her and all the members that worked so hard during the long weekend. Hard work pays off !!!! Congratulations, we love you.
Free Movie Night. January 26th, 2008 @ 6PM. Open to all students, families, and guests. Popcorn will be sold to help raise money for Company Nationals. Movie: TBD (Family/Dance Movie)

Studio Improvements. The studio has changed and continues to change from its former self, Sheri’s Born to Dance. We have replaced the floors with Harlequin Dance Floors, the same floors that Celine Dion and NYC Ballet use. We also got the staff some extra toys...The Ballet department received a new portable barr system and our hugely popular Arco department received new mats, a 30’ tumble track trampoline, and a 40’ tall spotting rig.
New Lobby Look. You may have noticed us streamlining the studio payments and registration. We have upgraded the studio computers to Apple’s with the latest dance studio software. We can now keep your accounts up to date, faster, and more accurately. Also in the lobby we have all of our new NCDA dance clothing, leotards, and tights. We believe that this has really helped students and parents make sure they have what they need for class. To stay up to date, make sure you take a look at the studio video and announcement boards in studio A’s lobby.
Hollywood Trip. Tawnya, having danced and worked at the Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, felt that it was important for the company members to experience all the styles and choreographer at the Edge. Having worked with Edge owner Bill Prudich, Tawnya arranged a private master class with Bill. A very rare and special moment for the students. Some of the girls favorite classes where taught by choreographers, Scott Hislop, Keri LaGrand, Malaya, Bobby Newberry, Denise Leitner, Leslie Scott, Tabitha & Napoleon, and of course Mandy Moore. A huge highlight of the trip for the dancers was dancing on Fox’s hit show, So You Think You Can Dance’s stage and cheering on their favorite dancers from the front row! The dancers and us had a great time on the trip.
Competition. A lot has changed for the Company. Tawnya has completely changed the competitive program. The focus is now on the artistry and creation of contemporary pieces in all styles of dance. Tawnya has hired only the best choreographers to teach the girls in this very new competitive contemporary style. Our dances will no longer look like the standard “competition style” but will move beyond to a more creative and contemporary style. Jump, a huge dance competition from NY, was the highlight for the Company and Teams. For the first year with all Tawnya’s changes, the girls did great!
Web Site. The web site has been a huge improvement from previous years. The site talks about what is happening at the studio, and what programs and events we are offering. You can also print registration forms, view media, and make comments in the guest-book. The site also offers access to the studio calendar and schedule.
Shows. The Company and Teams performed many times during the year. Some of the highlights were their own shows. Arrived, a competition preshow at the East Valley YMCA with full lighting and staging got the members revved up for the months to come. Arrived was a benefit for the company members and hundreds turned out to support. The Premier was the biggest show NCDA has ever had!!! The show was at the Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown San Jose. All the studio members participate in this popular end of the year performance. Arrived and The Premier was sponsored by Light Touch Entertainment. Some of the other Company favorites were: Dance Affairs Winter Show, Independence High School, Jump, Spotlight, and the Portuguese Heritage Club.
