...is to create a strong technical foundation for our dancers while encouraging them to reach their full artistic potential.  Each class is designed to motivate our dancers through creativity and discipline.   At NCDA we know that dancing is and should be fun!
That is why we focus on teaching all of our classes in a fun, learning atmosphere so that all of our
dancers will continue to love dance, gain confidence, and excel!

The New Look, The New Styles,
The New Bay Area Dance Concept.

One of the oldest dance studios in the Bay Area, Sheri's Born to Dance, is now Nor Cal Dance Arts. This old studio now has a new name, new owners, and new concept.  The New owners of the 5,000 sqft facility are San Jose/Evergreen natives Tawnya and Jason Kuzia.

These two new owners have completely taken all that they have learned from the best in LA and NY and brought it to this new Bay Area studio.  NCDA offers both Youth and Teen/Adult classes. The impressive staff of master teachers really sets them apart from other Northern California studios.  Not only are the teachers new and highly trained, but everything but the location has been upgraded to fit this new image and dance concept.

NCDA has created a unique Teen/Adult program that does not require commitments or recitals.  The Teen/Adults here are free to come when they can and are not punished if they can't make it in one night because of homework or work.  Not only do they get freedom, but more classes and more styles.

For the Youth; NCDA does it right! The facility is child safe and highly qualified professional instructors are always ready to teach. Youth members pay a monthly fee for the amount of classes they take per week.  The more classes you take or the more members in the family taking classes (that includes you mom and dad) the lower the price.  NCDA believes that Youth members should learn it right the first time.

Performance Seekers. You have come to the right place.  NCDA's Teen Dance Collective, POSSE, and Mini Mob take to the front lines in choreography concepts and performance perfection.  Taught by the master staff at NCDA and outside choreographers the The Teen Dance Collective, POSSE, and Mini Mob are all multi award winning companies.

So who are the owners that give us this new studio and concept?

Tawnya Kuzia received her B.A. in Dance from SJSU, where she was a member of thier modern dance troupe, University Dance Theatre.  SJSU also boasts sjDANCEco and the Limon Dance Company, under the direction of Julliard Alumni Gary Masters.  As a result of her work there she was asked to join a dance company in San Fransisco, CTDancers, under the direction of Corie Tyson. After graduating, Tawnya was asked to oin Edge Performing Arts Center and Steps on Broadway in New York City. She chose to study and work at the Edge Performing Arts Center, one of the primer dance studios in the nation.  There she was asked to assist the owner and master teacher Bill Prudich.  Tawnya has been fortunate to train under some of the best choreographers in the country including Dee Caspary, Mandy Moore, Tovaris Wilson, Liz Imperio, Doug Caldwell, and Keri LaGrand.

Jason Kuzia is the founder and director of Light Touch Entertainment, a motion picture, concert, and theater lighting and set company. After moving to Hollywood Jason has worked on several motion pictures productions, theater shows, tours, dance concers, and commercial television spots, under the direction and guidance of Christopher Coppola (Blood Head), and Bobby Moresco (Crash, Million Dollor Baby).  Some of his productions include: Biker Chef, 10th and Wolf, Crashing, The Way of the Wiseguy Tour, and The Kings of Appletown. Jason has also formed a design partnership with motion picture designer Rando Schmook (X-Men, 10th & Wolf). Jason is currently involved in several projects and looks forward to more.
