Nor Cal Youth Program

Youth Program includes:  Creative Dance, Combo Class, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theater, and Acro

Youth Program

We offer an extensive youth program for children ages 2-13. Fall Schedule Classes are available 6 days a week from September through June.  All of our Youth classes will participate in a recital in June where the students will have a chance to perform all they have learned throughout the year. Please call the studio if you have any questions regarding class placement or any other concerns.

Class Descriptions
Me & Mommy :
Parents, if your littie toddler is full of energy.  it's time for you to share some physical time in a fun and exciting movement education class. parents will learn how to work with their toddler while they learn to develop new skills in basic tumbling, dance and movement. They will improve body awareness, listening skills and class room development.
45 min. class for toddler walking to 3 yrs w/ parents.

Creative Dance :

Creative Dance is a fun class for our youngest dancers. We focus on simple ballet movements such as basic positions and barre technique, taking directions and developing musicality and coordination. The goal is to provide a healthy, positive, and fun experience to stimulate a growing love of dance. Girls should wear a color leotard, pink ballet tights, and pink leather ballet shoes. Boys should wear black shorts, form fitting tee shirt or tank top, and black ballet shoes.


Tumble Time :
Tumble Time is a fun and energetic class for our youngest dancers.  The class incorporates basic mat tumbling skills, as well as taking directions, and developing musicality and coordination. The goals for this class are to release energy and creativity, and to gain flexibility all while having a fun experience. Dancers should wear form fitting attire including a leotard, tank top, shorts, or unitard.  Dancers can wear black acro shoes, or can be barefoot.


Combo Class :
Combo Class is an hour long class that provides a fun introduction to three styles of dance including ballet, jazz, and tap.  The students will always begin with basic ballet and end with either jazz or tap.  The students will gain a wide knowledge of the basic techniques for each style which will help them for when they graduate to other classes.  Girls should wear a black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink leather ballet shoes, and black patent leather tap shoes (secured with elastic not ribbon). 
Boys should wear black shorts, form fitting tee shirt or tank top, and black ballet shoes.

Jazz:

Fun, upbeat style of dance. Jazz teaches the development of flexibility and control through the use of isolations, turns, and progression combinations. It helps students discover their own sense of internal rhythm, coordination, and personal style. The basics stem from ballet combined with current stylish moves and makes this a very popular class. Energetic popular music is used for this class. Dancers should wear form fitting dance attire that does not cover the knees, including, leotard, tights, biker shorts, unitard, tank-top, etc. We recommend Tan Split Sole Bloch Jazz Shoes (no laces) are required for the Recital.


Ballet:
Ballet is the foundation for all styles of dance, with an emphasis on proper technique, poise, and balance. It fosters not only an awareness of line, but also tones and strengthens the body. The knowledge of Ballet will also transfer into all other forms of dance.  Dancers should wear a black leotard and pink ballet tights.  We recommend Pink Leather Ballet Shoes (split soles for advanced students). Boys should wear black shorts, form fitting tee shirt or tank top, and black ballet shoes.

Tap:

Tap is an American art form in which the dancer creates sound through rhythmic footwork. The class require special shoes to create different rhythms and sounds. Great for developing coordination and skills. Dancers should wear movable and flexible work-out attire.  We recommend Tan Split Sole Bloch (with Laces) are required for the Recital.

Lyrical and Contemporary:
Are expressive dance forms combining ballet technique with jazz and modern style. This style tells a story through the movement. Dancers are especially able to explore their own personal style and creativity through this type of movement.  Lyrical and Contemporary have a pre-requisite of either Ballet or Jazz. Dancers should wear for fitting attire so that the instructor will be better able to correct their position and body line. We recommend bare feet or Dance paws for this class.

Hip Hop:
Fun and energetic urban dance form that is becoming more and more popular today with the Media. The class has a very relaxed atmosphere with emphasis on musicality and style.  Dancers should wear comfortable and flexible attire with light soled sneakers.

Acro:
Acro is a fun high energy class which focuses on acrobatic skills, gaining flexibility and strength.  This includes, tumbling on mats, learning acro tricks,  and partnering skills.  Dancer’s will have a blast!  Dancer’s should wear form fitting dance attire including, leotards, biker shorts, and unitards.  No tights or separates! Dancers should wear black Acro shoes, or can be barefoot.

Musical Theater:
Musical Theater combines classic jazz technique with a strong emphasis on character acting and role playing.  The dancers will have fun in this high energy class where they will learn some of their favorite routines from musicals. For example: High School Musical, Hairspray, Lion King, Footloose, and many more! They even get to sing along! Dancers should wear form fitting dance attire. We recommend Split Sole Tan Bloch Jazz shoes (no laces) for the Recital. 

Cheer and Tumbling :
Our Little NCDA Cheerleaders will learn basic stunts, Tumbleling, Jumps, Chants and a mixes of Jazz Funk and Hip Hop. They will learn a mix of all of thes skills which will take are little NCDA cheerleaders and the right step to their dream of being a cheerleader.
